Air India pilot refused to fly

There was a stir at Rajkot airport in Gujarat when an Air India pilot refused to take off. Please tell that a total of 100 passengers were going to travel by plane, out of which 3 MPs were also included. Please inform that this flight was going to Delhi. Around 100 passengers, including three BJP MPs, were stuck at Rajkot airport in Gujarat. The incident took place on Sunday night (July 23). The incident took place when the passengers boarded the Air India flight, scheduled to take off at 8.30 pm. Passengers on board the plane included three MPs, Rajkot MP Mohan Kundariya, Jamnagar MP Poonam Madam and newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Kesridevsinh Jhala. According to the information, the pilot of the plane refused to take off saying that he had completed his duty as per DGCA norms.

Air India issued a statement

Following this, the airline issued a statement saying that the AI404 flight between Rajkot and Delhi late evening of 23 July was delayed due to operational reasons. An Air India spokesperson further said, “Subsequently, the cockpit crew came under Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) regulations, for which they could not operate the flight as per the regulatory norms. FDTL regulation is a non-negotiable aspect and cannot be compromised under any circumstances.”

The spokesperson further added, “Some passengers who had to reach Delhi urgently were sent by road to Ahmedabad to take Air India or codeshare flights. Remaining passengers were offered hotel accommodation with all meals and their bookings were rescheduled as per their wish with full refund on cancellation.”

Such an incident happened in the past as well

A similar incident was witnessed earlier this month, when on July 2, Air India flight AI 186 from Vancouver to Delhi was canceled due to some technical issue, leaving around 20 to 25 students stranded. Narrating their ordeal, the University of British Columbia (UBC) students had reported that the flight was initially scheduled to take off from Vancouver airport on July 2 at around 10.15 am, but was rescheduled twice and later cancelled.
