Imphal: Police have arrested the seventh accused in connection with the video of a woman being paraded naked in Manipur. Police has already arrested 6 accused. Police has told that out of these 7 accused, one of the accused is a minor. Earlier, the court had sent 4 accused to police custody for 11 days. Let us tell you that on Wednesday, July 19, a video went viral, in which some people were making two women walk naked. As per information, the incident took place on May 4, but the video has now surfaced.
Death penalty should be given to criminals – Biren Singh
After this shameful video surfaced, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh termed the incident as inhuman and said that the culprits should be given death penalty. Strongly condemning the incident, the Chief Minister termed it as a crime against humanity and said that his government would not remain silent on this heinous crime. The Chief Minister said that soon after seeing the video, he asked the Cyber Crime Department to verify it and directed the officials to launch a massive search operation to nab the culprits. He said that I will demand the court to award death sentence to the accused in this case.
‘Prayed to save the police, but…’
Whereas earlier in this incident, while talking to India TV, the victim’s husband told that all this happened in front of the police. In the name of forming a peace committee, people came to our house and the rioters burnt the church of the neighboring village.
‘The mob forced us out of the police car’
He said that the attackers started killing the animals. We hid in the nearby forest after saving our lives. When they came to burn my village, the animals fled towards the forest. We were also caught because of the animals. The attackers took us separately. The victim’s husband told that when the crowd came, the police had also reached there. The mob forced us out of the police car. Two girls were stripped naked by the mob. When a girl’s father and brother came, they were killed. My wife was also brutalized by the mob.
