Air India issued a statement
Following this, the airline issued a statement saying that the AI404 flight between Rajkot and Delhi late evening of 23 July was delayed due to operational reasons. An Air India spokesperson further said, “Subsequently, the cockpit crew came under Flight Duty Time Limit (FDTL) regulations, for which they could not operate the flight as per the regulatory norms. FDTL regulation is a non-negotiable aspect and cannot be compromised under any circumstances.”
The spokesperson further added, “Some passengers who had to reach Delhi urgently were sent by road to Ahmedabad to take Air India or codeshare flights. Remaining passengers were offered hotel accommodation with all meals and their bookings were rescheduled as per their wish with full refund on cancellation.”
Such an incident happened in the past as well
A similar incident was witnessed earlier this month, when on July 2, Air India flight AI 186 from Vancouver to Delhi was canceled due to some technical issue, leaving around 20 to 25 students stranded. Narrating their ordeal, the University of British Columbia (UBC) students had reported that the flight was initially scheduled to take off from Vancouver airport on July 2 at around 10.15 am, but was rescheduled twice and later cancelled.
