Meanwhile, the DGCA removed SpiceJet from enhanced surveillance as a precautionary measure about a fortnight ago. The DGCA on Tuesday said 51 spot checks were carried out at 11 locations across India on the Boeing 737 and Bombardier DHC Q-400 fleet before the airline was removed from the advanced surveillance regime.
The DGCA said, “The findings (during local checks) were of routine nature and were not considered significant by DGCA. Appropriate maintenance action was taken by the airline to address the findings as per DGCA guidelines. As a result, SpiceJet has been removed from the enhanced surveillance regime by DGCA.” About a fortnight ago, the airline was put under enhanced surveillance to be more careful in view of the glitches reported during the monsoon season last year.
