Yashasvi Jaiswal was the highest run scorer
As soon as Yashasvi Jaiswal’s name was linked to the India vs West Indies Test series, it was decided that this young Indian batsman would be the find of the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 288 runs in this series of 2 Test matches at an average of 88.67 and a strike rate of 54.18. He hit a total of 29 fours and 3 sixes.
In the first match, he had a chance to become the first batsman to score a double century on Test debut for India but he was dismissed for 171 off 387 balls. He hit 16 fours and 1 six in this innings.
At the same time, in the first innings of the second Test, he maintained his form and scored 57 runs in 74 balls with the help of 9 fours and 1 six. In the second innings, he was able to score only 38 runs in 30 balls with the help of 4 fours and 1 six because there was pressure of fast run rate.
Ravichandran Ashwin took many wickets
Ashwin took 5 wickets for 60 runs in 24.3 overs in the first innings against West Indies, due to which WI’s innings was reduced to 150, while in the second innings, Ashwin took 7 wickets for 71 runs in 21.3 overs. Even after taking 12 wickets, he was not given the title of Man of the Match.
He was able to take a total of 3 wickets in the second Test but this series will be very memorable for him as he not only became India’s second most successful bowler of all time in all formats but also held the record for taking wickets of both father and son in one format. In this series, Ashwin took 15 wickets for 225 runs in 90 overs.
Mohammad Siraj’s best Test performance
In the second Test, Mohammad Siraj gave the best performance of his Test career. India bowled West Indies out for 255 in the first innings of the second Test on Sunday thanks to a Test career-best bowling performance from Mohammed Siraj (60/5).
The West Indies scored 229/5 on the third day of the match on the basis of excellent defence, but on the fourth day they lost their last five wickets in just 50 minutes.
Young talent Mukesh Kumar started the day by dismissing Alyque Athanaz (115 balls, 37 runs) lbw, while Siraj got Jason Holder caught by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan in the very next over. West Indies avoided the follow-on as Mukesh hit two fours in one over, but Siraj wasted no time dismissing Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel to end the Caribbean team’s innings.
