Ahmedabad: Defending champions Gujarat Titans will aim for a hat-trick of wins when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL match on Sunday, while KKR will look to continue their winning streak after defeating RCB in the previous match. Not only will he get the benefit, but he also has no dearth of match winners.
In the first match against Chennai Super Kings, young Shubman Gill scored a thrilling five-wicket win by scoring 63 runs in 36 balls, while Sai Sudarshan scored 62 runs in 48 balls against Delhi Capitals. Both young batsmen running in form, captain Hardik Pand It will not be easy for KKR to face the fast bowling of ₨Ya and Mohammed Shami and the excellent spin bowling of Rashid Khan of Afghanistan.
Gill has scored centuries in all three formats this year and his hunger for runs has not diminished. He has found a good partner in opener Wriddhiman Saha and the pair can tear apart any bowling attack in the IPL.
Sudarshan, who has played only seven first-class matches so far, has scored two centuries for Tamil Nadu. IPL has given him an opportunity to show his skills in T20 format as well. Rahul Tewatia believes in hitting fours and sixes and Rashid has already presented his batting sample last year. David Miller had expressed his form by scoring 31 runs in 16 balls against Delhi.
Among the bowlers, Shami, Rashid and Alzarri Joseph have experience. Shami has taken five wickets in two matches but will have to stop runs in the powerplay overs.
KKR, on the other hand, brought in Jason Roy after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was injured and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan withdrew. After the fine batting of Afghanistan’s young wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, now it has to be seen where the place is made for Jason.
Gurbaj scored 22 runs against Punjab Kings and batted brilliantly against RCB to give the team a score of 200. In the 81-run win against RCB, Shardul Thakur put in an all-round performance and Delhi youngster Suyash Sharma took three wickets for 30 runs. Spinner Varun Chakraborty took four wickets for 15 runs while Sunil Narine took two wickets. This must have boosted the morale of KKR and also the morale of the caretaker captain Nitish Rana.(Language)
