Indian and American Air Force doing war exercises
New Delhi: Bilateral air force exercise between Indian Air Force and United States Air Force (USAF) has been started in India. This important exercise between India and America has been named ‘Cope India 23’. The armies of both the countries are conducting this exercise at Air Force Station Arjan Singh (Panagarh), Kalaikunda and Agra. According to the Defense Ministry, the aim of the exercise is to enhance mutual understanding between the two air forces and to share their best practices.
first phase starts on monday
The first phase of this exercise has been started on Monday. This phase of the exercise will focus on air mobility and will involve transport aircraft and special forces assets from the air forces of both the countries. Both sides are fielding C-130J and C-17 aircraft. Also operating the USAF MC-130J. The exercise also features the presence of Japanese Air Self Defense Force personnel, who will participate in the capacity of observers.
Air force organized international hockey tournament
In addition, a total of 12 teams including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and United Kingdom Air Force Hockey teams are participating in an International Air Force tournament being held in India. To commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC, the 4th edition of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament-2023 is organized by the Air Force Sports Control Board at Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium, 3 BRD Air Force Station, Chandigarh being held from 10th to 15th April, 2023.
Chief Guest Air Marshal Vibhas Pandey AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command declared the tournament open. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest said, “We take pride in organizing the prestigious Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament, Marshal of the Hockey Tournament, once again in the country. The tournament will provide a platform to the prestigious hockey teams of the country and the Indian Air Force will ensure that no stone is left unturned in the smooth conduct of the tournament. He said that organizing this hockey tournament is a commendable tribute to the Air Force veteran to express gratitude for his contribution towards the nation.
The opening match was played between Indian Air Force and Chandigarh XI
The opening match on Monday was played between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Chandigarh XI. The team of Chandigarh XI won this match by 3-1 goals. The chief guest presented a check of Rs 10,000 to Man of the Match Chandigarh XI goalkeeper Bikramjeet Singh. On the first day of the tournament, the Indian Navy won the second match 2-0 against Punjab & Sind Bank.
