PAKvsSL match also got hampered by rain, only 10 overs could be played on the second day

[ad_1]

PAKvsSL Pakistan took a slight lead over Sri Lanka in their first innings of the second Test on Tuesday, but continued rain restricted play to just 10 overs on the second day. Lunch was taken early due to rain during the day’s opening session. The rain had stopped in the afternoon but the umpires called off the day’s play after tea as the outfield was waterlogged. The third day of the match on Wednesday will start 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled time.

Pakistan’s team started the day with 145 runs for two wickets. The team chased down Sri Lanka’s first innings score of 166 and when they were 178 for two, heavy rain forced the players to walk off the field. Only 43 minutes of play could be played in the first session of the day. Pakistan scored 33 runs during this period.

Opener Abdullah Shafiq was batting on 87 and captain Babar Azam on 28 when play was stopped due to rain. Both have made an unbroken partnership of 57 runs for the third wicket so far.
Pakistan bowled out Sri Lanka for 166 in 48.5 overs on the first day, riding on a strong performance from the bowlers led by Abrar Ahmed (4/69) and Naseem Shah (3/41).
Pakistan won the first Test in Galle by four wickets in this two-match series.

India vs West Indies and England vs Australia Test matches drawn due to rain

Significantly, this week the rain did not leave empty the Test match played in any corner of the world. England were in a very strong position at Old Trafford in Manchester but rain robbed them of victory and the Test was drawn.
Incessant rain at Old Trafford ended England’s hopes of winning the series as the fourth Ashes Test was drawn on Sunday.

Australia won the Ashes series for the fourth time in a row by taking an unassailable 2–1 lead. Whatever the outcome of the fifth Test at The Oval in London, the Ashes urn will remain with defending champions Australia.
England were in possession of this match for most of the time. Australia had scored 214 runs for the loss of five wickets before play was stopped due to rain on the fourth day. England still had a 64-run lead and a chance to level the series, but the umpires decided to call off the day’s play as the rain did not stop until 5:25 pm local time.

India and West Indies failed to bowl a single over on the fifth day of the second Test on Monday due to incessant rain and the match ended in a draw. Chasing a target of 365, the West Indies were 76 for two at the end of the fourth day. Windies needed 289 runs to win on the fifth day yesterday, while India needed eight wickets to win. After rain did not stop for two sessions on the last day, the umpires decided to call off the day’s play.
